Chairperson

I am Saupakkiyam, the founder and chairperson of the Sri Vetri Vision & Mission Charity Trust. I come from a modest background, born to uneducated parents in the village of Devadhanam Pettai in the Villupuram district, where our family was engaged in agriculture. Despite the socio-economic challenges we faced, my parents prioritized my education and sent me to school. I completed my 10th grade at a government higher secondary school and my 12th grade at Raja Desing Government Higher Secondary School. I then pursued both my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Madras University in Chennai. My parents provided unwavering support throughout my educational journey.

One of the significant challenges I encountered was adjusting to life in the bustling city of Chennai. Initially, I struggled with interacting with others, but I eventually overcame my shyness. Besides my parents, I am grateful for the encouragement and support of my professors, Dr. Ramachandran and Dr. Jagadessan, who played a crucial role in my academic achievements. After completing my postgraduate studies, I joined Dr. MGR Medical University, where I served until my retirement a few years ago. The primary goal of starting this foundation is to support blind individuals and promote awareness about eye donation. We also aim to expand our mission to empower the poor and economically disadvantaged.

This is my small and lovely family, my husband is an employee of Chennai petroleum corporation and my son is an IITian, Chennai did his M.tech aerospace engineering, both of them supporting me to continue my service with the support of physically and financially
